History revolves around empires what was life like outside of one?

It's not so much that history revolves around empires, it's more like only the empires bothered to record their victories. Farmers and sailors did not. So you have to read about the empires to find clues about how they treated the farmers and sailors. Bear in mind that slavery was just another form of employment in those days. Don't get hung up on that just because modern people feel differently about the subject.

i thought so thank you for clarifying but you missed the main issue. what was life like outside of empires? what do we know of it

We don't know, ok? The only records outside of victory declarations were market records and verbal histories and excavations of cities.
