... summaries of important civil war battles in chronological order. Also, there is a dry stamp/seal impression at the top of each document, which looks kind of like the capitol building in D.C. Each summary includes casualty stats, loss of artillery, significant strategic decisions by each sides, and some specific stories (such as the famous Confederate general mistakenly shot by his own men). Any idea what this could be and/or how I could go about researching more on it? Google is only helpful until a point.

You may have some significant original Civil War documents on your hands!! Google may not answer your document inquiries, but it could lead you to a Civil War historian or to the curator of a major Civil War museum. For authenticity, it might require personal observation and tests for age. Personally, I'd go the museum route. They may be quite valuable.
Thank you for your answer. I was thinking something similar. I just find it a bit strange that they are short summaries of each battle in order, which makes me think someone copied the information from some other primary source. Also, I don't know what the writing of this document would achieve, unless it was some scribe's or record-keeper's notes. However, the imprinted seal at the top definitely displays some form of legality. Also, there were page numbers at the top. I just wish I could find an internet source that described more about the stamp so I could find out more about its origins.
