I have a 5 gal tank with led and filter, what kinds of fish can put in there? and how many of them? i can get a heater if neccessary, but would prefer a cold water tank. I just want happy fish(s) in a humane enviroment. Inwas thinking about penguin tetras- but I'm not sure if they would work for the size. ANY ADVICE POSSIBLE ABOUT FISH CARE IS APPRICEATED. I have been doing alot of research and it seems like everyone has a different opinion on what is humane and not, so I'm really confused and just really dont want to kill my fish(s)

In a five gallon tank you could have 2-3 guppies and maybe a freshwater snail. The guppies I own are orange and yellow spotted with split tails, they are really pretty. You would not need a water heater, but make sure that the fish cannot get stuck behind your filter. If algae becomes a problem, you should make a stop at the local pet store for aquarium salt: it also helps gill function. You should do a partial water change once or twice every two weeks, meaning you take out half of the water and replace it with fresh water. If you use sink water, make sure that you use water conditioner. Be sure to check the size of how big the fish you want gets, so that it can live in the tank you have. Also make sure that the fish you et are freshwater fish. I wouldn't recommend a beta fish because their fins break really easily and then they don't look as pretty anymore. They also easily get sick and hard to feed properly. The fun part about fishtanks is that you can costumize them with backrounds, gravel, decor and you can even buy glow in the dark fish, gravel and accessories. The glow in the dark fish are really cool.
