I am trying to find a book that I read a sample of a long time ago about a boy in his teens that got kidnapped, and is liked/protected by crows/ravens. People found him creepy, because the crows/ravens liked him. I think there was a scene where a guy was going to harm the boy by going in to the house with a gun or something like that, and the crows ended up killing the guy.
The guy who kidnapped him could move very fast, and the boy is taken to a submarine ish thing. He is told to hold his breath and is dropped out of the bottom of the submarine.
The boy lived with his mother, I think and had no siblings.
It may or may not have been about human experimentation and mutants.
If anyone happens to know a similar book, it would be greatly appreciated if you can please tell me the title of the book.
