Not recently, but I took a (private) bus from Melbourne to the Gold Coast.

It's at least 847km on Google Maps, it also says that it would take 9 hours and 38 minutes; that's with no breaks whatsoever.
You going to need breaks, at the absolute minimum, petrol, toilet and eating breaks.

I recommend that you do it in two days, stay a night in Port Maquarie or Coffs Harbour and then go on for the second half.
