I'm very sorry to hear that you're experiencing those things. Life is hard enough even without the things you mentioned. To answer your question in the simplest way, the greatest source of comfort that I personally receive is from the scriptures. It might sound silly to some people, but texts such as 2 Corinthians 1:4, and psalm 94:19 remind me that no matter how alone I may feel at times, my God is always ready and willing to comfort me, IF I ask Him for it. He loves us all very much and wants the best for us, especially if we allow Him to be a part of our life. Look up those verses, they will make you feel better. If you don't have a bible available you can read one online at JW.org. That site also has a lot of information about what you're going through, just type a word like sad, or depressed into the search feature and it will give you articles to read. Don't worry things will get better!!!
The "down and up times" could be a sign of bipolar. As for the rest I think you may be more cynical than the average person [no offense] this could also be the result of experience with bad relationships or poor self image etc.
I'm really just guessing, I'm not a doctor obviously, but I think you should see a doctor about the up and down times. Those type of mood swings put a lot of stress on your mind that shouldn't be necessary.
