Hello, I am a Christian and i love Religious history. Why did the scriptures in the cannon
stop when they did i would guess around the year 450 BC. Most Christians don't realize
that they adopted for the most part the Hebrew Bible.
Thank you.
Best Regards,
Charles J. Kollman.

Malachi 4:5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord: 6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.
There were no more prophecies for about 400 years. If Jesus had not fulfilled his mission, God's last word to the Jews would have been "curse".
BTW, a list of acceptable sources of information is called a canon, one 'n'. A cannon is a big gun.
The Bible is a very old book. The writing of the Bible began in the Middle East some 3,500 years ago. By comparison, that was during the time of the mighty Shang dynasty of China and about ten centuries before Buddhism started in India.
If a book is to be a helpful and beneficial guide to people, it must be understandable and relevant to them. The Bible is just such a book. It offers satisfying answers to life’s most important questions.
The writing began in 1513 BCE and completed about 98 CE by 40 different men. The contents of the Bible include history, laws, prophecy, poetry, proverbs, songs, and letters.
The Hebrew scriptures were written from 1513 to 443 BC.
The last book of the Hebrew scriptures was Malachi who finished his writings around 443BC regarding the restoration of Jerusalem.
The Greek scriptures begin with the book of Matthew, written about 41CE and covers the time period of 2BC to 33CE. This covers the birth, ministry and death of Jesus Christ.
The importance of the Hebrew Scriptures cannot be overemphasized, for without their law code, history, and prophecies, much in the Christian Greek Scriptures would be doubtful in meaning. (Lu 24:27, 44) “For all the things that were written aforetime were written for our instruction.” “Now these things went on befalling them as examples, and they were written for a warning to us upon whom the ends of the systems of things have arrived.” (Romans 15:4; 1Corinthians 10:11) Hence, the Christian Bible writers repeatedly quoted from and alluded to the former Bible writings, in this way carrying forward and expanding many of the themes and promises set forth in the Hebrew Scriptures. In the Christian Greek Scriptures, the New World Translation presents as direct quotations 320 passages from the Hebrew Scriptures. According to a listing published by Westcott and Hort, the combined total of quotations and references is some 890.
Without the Hebrew Scriptures we would be lacking many details about man’s origin, the cause of death, and the Edenic promise that the Serpent’s head will be crushed by the seed of the woman. Without the Hebrew Scriptures we would not know many details about such things as the Noachian Flood, why blood is sacred, God’s covenant with Abraham, how Jehovah fought for his covenant people, and the history of the pictorial theocratic kingdom.
The 66 canonical books of our Bible in their harmonious unity and balance testify to the oneness and completeness of the Bible, which says, at (2 Timothy 3:16) "All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness".

The Hebrew Scriptures is of utmost importance in bible prophecy. Remember the Hebrew part of the bible introduce us to creation and when man and the earth came into existence. It also paved the way for us to know about the coming Messiah. It recorded the history of the first man Adam and the paradise garden he was place in. It also recorded the creation of Eve and the consequences of her disobedience, that all mankind is still affected by today. The Hebrew scripture also shows the power of our great God Jehovah, how he delivered his people out of wicked Pharoah hands. He parted the red sea so they could escape Pharoah and his men safely,It also recorded the account of Noah a man of faith, who listen to God and he and his family of eight went into the ark and was saved from the deluge that God brought upon disobedient mankind, that destroy everything on earth including mankind. Noah and seven of his family members were the only ones who survive because they obey God's words, went into the ark and waited on God to deliver them safely. The Hebrew Scriptures also tells us that God will bring an end to this wicked world. In the book of,Psalm 37, God said wickedness will be gone forever, only meek ones will be living on d earth. The earth will become a parasite again, when only obedient ones to God's word will be living on earth forever.
