My boyfriend and I have been dating for 2 months, and prior to our relationship neither of us have had serious relationships (we in our last year of high school). We go to school together and spend one or two nights a week together. The physical aspect of our relationship is steady, we haven't had sex yet, and won't be at that stage for a while, but all is going well.
Then last night he told me he loved me, and he looked so sweet and nervous that I told him that I loved him.
Neither of us have ever been in love, so I don't know if he said it just to say it, is feeling smitten in our relationship, or if he honestly does love me. I feel it is a little too soon for me to know if I love him, but am most certainly smitten with him.
My question is, do I tell him that I feel this way (and potentially make things incredibly awkward/ruin what we have going), or just continue as we are (I don't think he will be the type to proclaim his love often), and say only I love him when he says it to me, until I actually know that I do love him (could be soon?), at which time I will be the one bringing it up and saying it as often as possible?
I really really like him, and don't want to lose him over this
He loves me, do I love him?

what do you want in this relationship?????
Truth, honesty?
Or! mess up everything and sing the Billy Joel song "honesty"?
Clear the air!!!!!!!!!!!
Tell him that you do like him.
And that you do love the fact that he was honest in declaring his love for you.
Tell him that you would like to take it slow.
That you don't want to rush into anything that might ruin what we have.
You can tell him that you want to make this relationship work, that's why.
Ask him to work with you to make it work, it does take 2 to make it work.
Even if it means whatever phase your friendship is at.
