I need some gymnastics help.
I have been in love with gymnastics my WHOLE life! I loved being a gymnast, and now I am falling in love with coaching. I do know that just because you have done something your whole life doesn't make you an expert and I would never claim to be. I am just so full of passion and its a love that won't die so I want to peruse it.
I started getting paid to coach at 18. I worked 1 year as a Rec Coach and then moved to my own Xcel Team. 6 months later I became second in command doing ordering, scheduling, maintenance, ect.. I stayed with this position another year before I decided to move to an island. With my job you would think I know all there is to know about running a business, but that just is not so. Stacey, my previous employer and friend, was my go to gal, but since her passing I am left with unanswered questions.
I am working with a local Rec center on the island. I started out as just another coach and then I was quickly handed the program to do with as I pleased (they have never had an "experienced" coach). I love it, the parents love it, the kids love it. As much as the program was loved there is little we can do to grow it , which is a problem because we already have over 100 kids interested.
So my big question is...how? How do I go about making this happen. Do I start small with a travel-ish program? Or do I go for it and try renting a space? Equipment will need, for the most part ,portable in case I need to transport it. Basically what ideas do those who have/had a gym have about starting out.
Equipment- what is the best way to get equipment? Do you prefer reps from companies or is there an alternative way to get equipment?
Thanks so much for your help. I am really looking into the business side of things, but hearing from people who have done this before will be helpful in picking the right path.
