... highschool. we have been dating for 3 years and dont want to break up. I want to visit him as much as possible but i also dont want to smother him or get behind in school driving there is no problem.. How often should i go visit?

1 weekend a month. Are your parents going to let you go overnight and will they want you driving alone 5 hours each way and who is going to pay for the gas and do you have emergency roadside coverage???
You probably cannot choose the same weekend every month like lets say the first weekend. His school schedule takes first priority and requires the two of you to stay in communication and checking your calendars to coordinate your lives.
