My therapist wants me to consider a few days in-patient mental health care. Has anyone done this. I don't do well in groups and am agoraphoic. I'm not sure the enviornment would be beneficial. I don't know anything about it.

i would suppose it would depend on the mental health issues your needing help with sometimes it would seem like it wouldn't be beneficial for them because of social anxiety disorder but if your therapist thinks it would be beneficial for you he would know cause its something that they already know who would do good in this enviroment they can adapt you to the programs they have so it would be the kind of thing that you would do good by going and theres probably alot of help you can get ask if you could find out more about the stay and what your working on ask what your therapist hopes to accomplish there and how long he would think you would be there
Your therapist is the one with all the training and education. If you knew more than your therapist you'd have cured yourself by now. Your therapist thinks the in-patient care will do more good than harm.
The reason for in-patient care can be myriad. Generally, the reasons are for some of these: it removes the patient from a situation where one or more people are causing the patient stress; it gives the patient time for rest if the patient is not getting any or enough; it allows the patient to forget all distractions and totally focus on therapy; it gives the Dr time to give medications and see if there are side effects and correct problems; it gives the patient a schedule of sleep and meals and therapy; there are other reasons but those are some of the most often why.
If you are committed to the process and want to get better, I'd agree to it and use it as another opportunity to make strides forward. Best of luck for a better future!
There is no loss in being a few days of mental health inpatient care. I know one of my close friends who has gone through this and she is now absolutely fine.
The environment will also be beneficial for you as they provide Personalized care, Mind, Body & Spirit Approach and Educational Approach which will let you stay sober and live a happier and more successful life.
