... He seems to be showing no signs of distress whatsoever, but we don't want to take him to the vet unless absolutely necessary. My parents already clean it twice a day with antibacterial, and we've been doing it since it started to smell. Can anyone tell us what to do and what its called?

yea i would think that if you use hydrogin peroxide it can clear it up i would also get some bacterium ointment buy some gauze and sterile pads and cover it with that it should draw out the infection best way to do it if that doesn't work but it should you'll have to take him to the vet
Thanks! This really helped! Although he's a long haired Alsation so its tough trying to cut away the fur to get to the skin. He flinches though if we touch the area.
