No you're definitely not wrong, they should have a schedule worked out for you, if they aren't having any employee problems, or system problems, etc you should have a schedule and a exact job you're supposed to do.

If it's bugging you you can always ask your manager why they need you in only on certain days or ask to have someone working call you daily.
