I have a small recording studio in NY and recently had an artist come in to record a few cover songs of music that I know has be copyrighted. I informed the artist of potential copyright infringement and they assured me that they would get permission from the owner, prior to releasing. Some of those recordings are now on YouTube (non-profit) and I was wondering if I was at risk of legal action for recording them. I was just hired to record, because of that am I free from a law suit or am I at risk and if so, what should I do about it? Have the artist sign a document taking full responsibility?
Thank you
Google - Can I be sued if an artist records someone else's song in my studio, without permission?
