So I'm a Canadian going to be with my Australian fiancée and we can't pay the $7000CAD for spouse visa right away. As of now I have my Electronic Travel Visa (ETA) and that's good for a 3 month stay. I get there on the 31st of December this year and was wondering if anyone could help point us in the right way to have me stay a longer time. So far the best option I've come across was a Travel Visa which lets me stay for up to 12 months, but that comes to $1000CAD which I can pay off. Is it viable to go with that route and see if we can get the $7000 for the Spouse visa by the 12 months or is there a better way/cheaper way to get this done?
Going to Australia for longer than 3 months, to be with fiancée but don't have $7k for spouse visa?

There is no reason why anybody should have to pay for permission to visit somebody. In America we call such a payment "gouge", which is a word that means to remove as with a chisel.
How did you meet this person without having to pay for the privilege? Look into one of you immigrating to the other country.
Problem with that is once you piss the people off at the embassy they will never give you any visa or marriage visa. Best to talk to a lawyer that handles these type of situations. .
Go to the embassies of your countries. Tell them you object to this shakedown and ask what other options there are. When speaking to the embassy of the country that demands the money, call it a 'shakedown'. When speaking to the embassy of the other country, call it a 'gouge' or a 'robbery' or a 'blackmail'.
