Well there are many ways to do this but the most common is a capture card.
there are many different capture cards so it kinda depends on your budget...
an easycap is fairly cheap ($7-10$) but has ok quality
a dazzle would be the next best (40-100) and has fairly good quality
if your looking for hd id say go with a black magic or a happauge pvr (100-200)
u will need a laptop or a close computer because capture cards do need to be connected to the tv and computer at the same time.
