I'm over weight and need to lose a lot. I've been weight lifting and have noticed results, will gaining muscle make me gain more weight while losing fat and once I lose enough fat will I notice weight loss?
I hope this makes sense.

Muscle weighs more than fat, and I recommend that if you want to lose weight, focus on jogging/running more than lifting. If you want to build muscle in the future, it's best that you first shed all the pounds you're aiming to lose. The key to losing wight sufficiently is sweating. I knew someone who would sit in a steam room for a considerable amount of time after his runs, and he would lose about half a pound a day. He would do this 4 days a week. That's 4 less pounds a week, and 16-20 pounds every month. That's over 100 pounds in just 5 months. This is considering you maintain a healthy diet as well.
Scale wise you may be heavier if you are lifting. muscles weigh more then fat and if you are lifting you will see yourself getting bigger as the muscles do, without actually losing any extra fat you may have. if you do want to lose weight and lift then you must do cardio. running or jogging is the best and fastest way to do so. if you are looking to lose weight at a bit of a fast pace intervalling running is the best. also I would recommend that you watch what you are eating (diet is not necessary). make sure that you are not snacking too much you have 2 hours between each meals and when you do snack try protein like nuts. also try to eat smaller proportions of a meal.
absolutely right most of the weight loss depends on diet, you should be working on it in two parts, first you should effort to get to the healthier weight scale and then be working on toning yourself, weight loss can go much faster with cutting down carbs intake and taking a tonic "beyond weight management tea", once you get to the desired weight scale then you should go for intense workouts to build muscles.
