4z^2 - wz^1/2 + 2y^2 = 10 Add spaces to improve readability. The rule is you can do any valid operation on both sides of an equation and it will still be equal. Add wz^1/2 and subtract 10.
4z^2 + 2y^2 - 10 = wx^1/2 Divide by x^1/2. This is called "snake in the deal" because if you don't watch out you can get bit. Multiplying by a variable can add false results, and dividing by a variable can obscure valid results.
(4z^2 + 2y^2 - 10 )/x^1/2 = w Now you can differentiate this any way you know how.
