Explain how the Copernicus theory of the heavens invalidated Aristotle?

It's a bit unfair to say Copernicus invalidated Aristotle. He showed mistakes, yes, but everything was a mistake. Aristotle had the earth as the centre of the solar system (and everything else, really). Copernicus set it straight and put the sun there, then arranged the planets in the proper order.
