I have been going through a lot in my life recently. I'm 16 years old and go to work and attend high school. Lately, I haven't been receiving a lot of sleep. Partly because of stress with family and partly because of homework. So to stay awake for homework I began drinking energy drinks (The sugarless Rock Star). It was just something I did during night so I could stay awake for my homework. Then I started to drink them during the day as a result of being tired from no sleep. Even when I don't have homework, I have trouble sleeping. I now have become drinking them everyday. Sometimes 2 times a day (one during the day, one at night when I have homework). I have noticed that the energy drinks make me more upbeat and a lot happier. I have anxiety and my parents have wondered if I have Bipolar Disorder (it runs in my moms side). I don't honestly know if I have Bipolar Disorder. I have done a lot of research on it. I normally just have episodes of being sad. I don't normally have episodes of being really happy. And if I do, it's only for a day or two. Anyways, now I get the urge to drink one when I'm feeling kinda down. My sister mentioned yesterday that I was abnormally happy (I had drank an energy drink). And I won't deny it. Energy drinks make me feel happier. I don't get sad when I drink them. So I was wondering if energy drinks are an antidepressant?
