Dog - Should I get my Shih Tzu's hair cut?

my mother says those dogs are supposed to have long hair. Should i get it cut?

I work in a dog grooming salon.
We get Shih Tzu's in all the time to get either full clips or just a neaten up. This is Australia of course so clipping is required in summer, it depends on what the weather is like where you live. It also depends on whether or not you want the dog long or short. Frequent brushing is needed for long hair, short is more easily maintained. 

I personally would get your dog clipped. I don't see many Shih Tzu's flaunting long fur, it gets in the way and is really only for show dogs. Plus, too much fur on the face, paw pads, and rear can cause health issues. Talk to a local groomer.

These dogs weren't born to have short hair, they're intended to have long hair
That's why nature put them the long hair
