I recently moved into a building, its me , my boyfriend and our dog. The landlord said it was okay that we have him but he is not allowed to relieve himself on the property, we frequently bring him outside and I thought that I could let him go just on the side of the property where nobody walks, he pees on the the tree and i take him elsewhere to do his other business. We only take him there for quick pee's in between walks, but the landlords husband came to my door and said that "this is the last time, I have to clean those leaves up" but he went on the tree... this doesnt seem fair to me. Can a building let you have animals but not allow them to go on site? doesn't that seem unfair?

Some landlords are just like that, a little unreasonable and bent on making your life inconvenient. There may be a law or something you could get them on but it's probably not worth it if there amazingly is. Try to compromise... maybe they'd be open to an 'indoor dog toilet'

With some air freshener, training, and regular cleaning it'd be a lot better for you and your dog but I don't know about how your landlord would react to the idea. They may stick to their guns, refuse this product that many other landlords are happy to allow, and keep making your life inconvenient just because they don't like dogs doing their business like nature intended.
Good luck :)
