Does the Sun's extreme temperatures prevent it from having an atmosphere?

It's not an atmosphere in the usual sense. Temperature is only meaningful up to six thousand degrees or so. Above that you have plasma. Astronomers measure the speed of the plasma and convert that to a temperature, but temperature is defined as random movement, and speed is not random.
