Does "I got apprehensive when I realized how much I love you" make sense?

Yes, I'm sad to say it does. Young people are not raised to handle responsibility these days. Some of them are too stupid to realize their lack of training, but your example indicates he/she is one of the smarter ones ... but still needs some improvement.

I would guess that you are in the same condition, so you are a living example of "blind leading the blind". Maybe it will work out, and maybe it won't.

BTW love is when you are aware of a need and you take care of it. Build your relationship on that and you just might be successful.
