Does forgiveness mean to say that you forgive dispite still feeling the pain of the damage?

Details:

Cheated my somebody and i now wanna forgive even though i cant get over whatever happened in past.
By forgiving i dun mean i wanna be with that person again but actually i take it as an opportunity to be closer to GOD..
i so wanna forgive but i can't help crying!

ask the lord for his help in knowing which way to go and you have to mean it because he goes by whats in your heart but i'm sure you already know this as your relationship with god is highly abundant and he never gives us more than he thinks we can handle
