By fighting, if this word needs to be explained in the context of a soldier, I mean literal fighting: with the weapon they carry, they are effectively using it to fight the enemy. So, the question is, as I like to have confirmed, does a soldier carrying his weapon around with him everywhere he goes actually spends 99.99% of his time not actually fighting with it.
Now, where have I heard that it's 99.99%? Well, it's not a very reliable source as I got it from a YouTube video that was talking more so about spiked armor and why they really weren't around. The reason why he mentioned that 99.99% a soldier isn't fighting with his weapon is because for pretty much 100% of his time, he's carrying that weapon so it's got to be something he's able to carry and handle without being too bothered by it as he points out you probably would be if you were wearing spiked armor almost everyday while you're out soldiering.
So, just to have it confirmed so I know rather or not that YouTube video has its information right, is it true that 99.99% of a soldier's time is spent not actually fighting?
