Do you think it's better to write "see her father off" than to write "see off her father"?

Hi, I'm an English learner and I learned that when using words like "up", "off", if the words after a verb are more than 2, then I should put "up" or "off" right after the verb.
But when using words like "it","him" for an object, then the word, for example,"up",
comes after the object.
ex) He pushed up a huge rock.(&larr;"up" comes right after a verb)
      He pushed it up. ("up" comes after a certain object)

However, this rule does not always fit.
A good example is "see off".
I ask you, who use English as a first language, that which is better to say.
1.) I saw her friend off at the airport.
2.) I saw off her friend at the airport.

Please state the number that you think is better with some reasons why you think so.

Yes #1 is correct... I was awesome in English when i was in school and the 2nd example does not work, it doesn't sound right.  Just as the person above stated, so to answer your question above it would be "See her father off" as to implying you are watching them go. Hope that clarifys some things for you.
