An emotional support dog is not the same thing as a service dog. A service dog has neen trained to help you do something that you cannot do for yourself.
Frankly, I would rather complete my therapy and get on with my life than have a dog with me advertising to the world that I am mentally disabled.

I would be training my dog to perform tasks, the dog would be a psychiatric service dog not an emotional support animal there is a difference. Psychiatric service dogs and service dogs have the same access rights. I get severe anxiety attacks when I’m in public. I tremble and shake, I get dizzy, I have a hard time breathing, I get migraines and headaches, I’ll have aches and pains all throughout my body which prevents myself from moving and etc... The dog wouldn’t be for attention it would be for my own personal needs (if that’s what you’re assuming) the animal would help me calm down and prevent me from digging my nails into my skin caused by anxiety.
I’m not waisting anyone’s money I’m from Canada... And it’s illegal to give someone under the age of 18 an animal without parents permission I’m 16 I’m going to be 17 in a month. I’m disabled I need something to help me. My disabilities prevent me from day to day things. You’ve written this in a way that makes me look like I’m whining and begging for a dog, it’s very inappropriate. I’m not anxious or nervous I have a fear of people in pubic areas it’s complicated.
Yeah, it is a WASTE (not waist, retard) of taxpayers money. They're the ones that pay for the training of the dog.
Scared of public spaces or whatever? Get over it like the rest of us do. You don't need a dog for that shit.
Legally you can train your own dog so it’s not a waist. And why call me a “retard” someone who’s considered a “retard” is someone who’s dyslexic or someone with a learning disablility I don’t have a learning disability. Why are you being so mean? There is more to my disability than being afraid of something if I could get over my disability believe me I would.
And why would the ada allow people with mental illnesses own a service animal if “they didn’t need one”
Wah wah wah
You don't need a dog.
Why can’t you be civilized?
I already have a dog though... I was just wondering if I could make him into a service animal for my needs.
What are the differences between a service dog, an emotional support animal and a therapy dog? A service dog is individually trained to perform tasks that mitigate the disability of his owner. Training typically takes 18-24 months.Aug 15, 2009
