It depends on where your dogs spend most of their days - inside, or outside. Even if outside, it's safe to pet your dog because you rarely get germs from petting your dogs, and if you do, it's minor and can be fixed with just some hand sanitizer. But kissing your dog can be very unsafe, and disgusting (in my opinion) because you do not know if your dog has any viruses or bugs that aren't physically shown, because they easily spread that way.
Kissing a dog. Dogs spend a lot of their time sniffing things, such as the floor, people, trash, food, plants, other dogs, dirt) When they do this, not only their nose, but a small part of their mouth touches the ground.
Also, dogs lick their butts, and that's many germs there as well.
