In a paper on the legal implications of longevity, the writers make this observation: “The time may not be far away where we may be able to live much longer than we do now—potentially forever.” The New Encyclopædia Britannica explains that rather than cellular breakdown, wear and tear, or other processes, the cause of death seems to be some undetermined factor that makes the bodily processes malfunction or shut down. It states: “It is possible that aging in an individual is actually due to a breakdown in the control mechanisms that are required in a complex performance.”

Had Adam and Eve not disobeyed God's commandment to not to eat from "the tree of the knowledge of good and bad....", they'd still be alive today. Adam and Eve were told that if they ate from that particular tree, they will "....certainly die." (Genesis 2:15-17, Genesis 3:19). Imagine if they had been obedient to Jehovah God, they'd still be alive today.
People lived extraordinary ages during mankind's early history based on the Scriptures, the Bible. Genesis 5:1-32 and Genesis 9:29 gives the names individuals who lived to attain extraordinary ages:
ADAM----died at the age of 930 years (Genesis 5:5)
SETH----died at the age of 912 years (Genesis 5:8)
ENOSH---- died at the age of 905 years (Genesis 5:11)
KENAN---- died at the age of 910 years (Genesis 5:14)
MAHALALEL----died at the age of 895 years (Genesis 5:17)
JARED---- died at the age of 962 years (Genesis 5:20)
ENOCH----died at the age of 365 years (Genesis 5:23,24)
METHUSELAH----died at the age of 969 years (Genesis 5:27)
LAMECH----died at the age of 777 years (Genesis 5:31)
NOAH---- died at the age of 950 years (Genesis 9:29)
These real persons of ancient times were listed in the Bible to show that after Adam and Eve sinned and disobeyed God, their perfect body and that of their offspring and future generations, became imperfect, and the length of time that mankind lived out their years shorten and gradually declined (Psalms 90:10)......
Because of the ransom sacrifice of Jesus Christ, all obedient mankind have the opportunity to live forever on a beautiful paradisaic, pristine, peaceful earth, where suffering, pain and misery will be no more. All "things will be made new" (Revelation 21:3-5). Even our dead loved ones will benefit by means of a beautiful miracle called the "resurrection", that will bring them back to life right here on earth (John 11:11-45, Acts 24:15, and Isaiah 26:19). God's "Kingdom of the Heavens", in the hands of Jehovah's appointed son and Ruler, will soon shower obedient mankind with an abundance of blessings.....

Bible, says: “Jehovah God made to grow out of the ground every tree desirable to one’s sight and good for food and also the tree of life in the middle of the garden and the tree of the knowledge of good and bad.”—Genesis 2:9.
Note that there was, not a ‘tree of death,’ but a “tree of life” in this lovely paradise. That “tree of life” stood as an unchangeable guarantee of continued life to those entitled to partake of it. There was no reason for Adam and Eve to have a morbid fear of the possibility of dying. As long as they continued to be obedient to their Creator in not eating of the forbidden “tree of the knowledge of good and bad” their life would not end.—Genesis 2:16, 17.
In the beginning it was God’s purpose for obedient humans to live forever in an earthly Paradise. And God never fails to accomplish what he purposes! (Genesis 1:28; Isaiah 55:11) His Word plainly promises: “The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it.”—Psalm 37:29.
Jesus Christ identified a first requirement when he said in prayer to his Father: “This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.” (John 17:3) Knowledge of God and of Jesus Christ includes knowledge of God’s purposes regarding the earth and of Christ’s role as earth’s new King

As in the previous comments living forever was part of Gods plan. (Gen 1:28) Its just so hard to see this idea with all the pain and suffering we experience today. And you are correct in your comments as far as you saying the human body breaks down because of wear and tear. So in no shape, way, or form can we learn or develop a way to live forever on our own accord. It must be a higher power and we can have confidence that from Jehovah God that can be accomplished. Isa. 33:24 says "and no resident will say: I am sick. The people dwelling in the land will be pardoned for their error." So to answer your question yes we can live forever..... Just under better conditions promised in the future
Biologists are experimenting with the enzyme telomerase in an attempt to overcome an apparent limit to the number of times that cells regenerate themselves. Scientists know that old, deteriorating cells are eliminated and replaced by new ones. In fact, most of the body is renewed several times during a person’s lifetime. If the process of renewal could be extended, researchers theorize, “the human body could regenerate itself for a very long time—even eternally
The purpose of God for the earth has not changed is made clear in the Bible, where God promises: “The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it.” Even Jesus Christ said in his Sermon on the Mount that the mild-tempered ones would inherit the earth. (Psalm 37:29; Matthew 5:5)

Perhaps, though, you feel that as far as humans are concerned everlasting life is a biological impossibility. However, Walter Sullivan stated: “The cells of our bodies (with a few exceptions, such as brain cells) are constantly replenishing themselves. It would seem that, barring accident or disease, this should continue indefinitely, but because of some subtle influence the replacement process is imperfect.”—We Are Not Alone, 1964, p. 282.
Dr. George R. Clements once stated: “If there is any one point on which leading scientists agree, it is that they can find no physiological reason in the body why man should not live forever.” And biologist William Beck commented: “I can see no reason why death, in the nature of things, need be inevitable.”
If you were to read the first five chapters of the Bible book of Genesis, you would find that the original human pair were not given a limited life-span. Set before them was the prospect of eternal life. Yes, people were made to live! But man disobeyed God and thus was sentenced to death as a sinner
The Son of God, Jesus Christ, said: “This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.” (John 17:3
Well, to the vast majority of those gaining God’s approval, the “offer” is everlasting life in human perfection in an earthly paradise. (Luke 23:43) Not only will old age be replaced by youthful vigor, but God will be with humankind. “He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.”—Rev. 21:3, 4
Sounds unreal? Well over eight million people from all cultures, languages and race have embraced this hope, you can too. Yes we can live forever. This is because of all the facts God's word the bible has enlighten us with. Let's look at a few of them:
1)Ecclesiastes,3: 14 tells us,"I have come to know that everything the true God makes will endure forever." That everything includes us,for God himself said the most precious he ever created is mankind.
2) Psalm 37:11/18 says,"But the meek will possess the earth,And they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace. Jehovah is aware of what the blameless go through,And their inheritance will last forever. This proves if the blameless inheritance is to last forever then he have to be living forever in order to inherit it.
3) Psalms 37:27 says,"Turn away from what is bad and do what is good,And you will remain forever." Again this proving the choice to live forever depends on us. Whether we choose to obey God or disobey God is left up to us. But he promises to all who obey everlasting life, living forever on a paradise earth when all wickedness is gone. Most definitely, we can live forever. Why will I say that? There are many proof that can help you come to that realization also. Let's take a look at a few proof both by doctors and Gods word the bible :
1) Doctors have been try to find out for many centuries why the human body kept replenishing new cells that help heal their wounds on their own,yet they grow old, get sick and die. They know that humans should live forever, they been trying to come up with an answer but fail to get one.
2) Scientists have been trying for centuries to put life into some one dead but have failed miserably.
So these professionals know we were put on this earth to live forever but just can't understand how to get it done. Let's look at God's word, the real source for the answer:
1) Genesis 2:16,17 God told Adam the first human he created ,"From every tree of the garden you may eat to satisfaction. But as for the tree of knowledge of good and bad,you must not eat from it,for in the day you eat from it you will certainly die."
So this confirms that if Adam had obeyed God's command, mankind would of been living for ever in perfection.
2) John 17:3 says, "This men's everlasting life, their coming to know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ." So again we see God's promise of everlasting life was always in his agenda for us. Our fore parents Adam and Eve messed up that previledge then, but God is so loving he immediately made a way possible for us to attain it again. That's by taking in accurate knowledge of him, coming into a relationship with him, practicing what we learn and building faith in him and his promises for us, and show that we really appreciate the biggest sacrifice he made for us at Mathew 20:28, "Just as the Son of man came, not to be ministered to,but to minister and give his life as a ransom in exchange for many." John 3:16 says, " For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son,so that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life."
With all the resources out there, the only reliable source on living forever is found in God's Word. Why should we believe it ? Titus 1:2 tells us God cannot lie,it's not in his genes to lie or to make promises and not fulfill them.

The body is mortal, the body has to die. But we are not the body, we are not even the Mind and Ego, the ME, we are the Divine Soul. Yes, when we realize we are that the Divine Soul then we become immortal, we will live forever, we will be liberated from the cycle of death and rebirth, and we will be united with the God in eternal bliss and everlasting peace. But we can only live forever when we realize this Truth. It is Self-realization that leads to God- realization.
