Yes, peoples focus on self, money, pleasure, and instant gratification contributes to crime. The bible foretold at 2 Timothy 3:1-5 that "in the last days...men would be lovers of themselves, lovers of money...fierce, without love of goodness, lovers of pleasure rather then lovers of God." Sadly, by the way of movies, video games, literature, and bad role models, the world promotes such traits, which only foster more crime. Also crime begins within the inner person. James 1:14-15 says: "Each one is tried by being drawn out and enticed by his own desire. Then the desire, when it has become fertile, gives birth to sin." So when a person thinks bad thoughts, he nurtures wrong desires. These in turn may lead to harmful acts. But not everybody succumbs to those influences, and what has helped is the bible. A wonderful website that helps so many to change the way they live their lives and has brought them happiness is www.jw.org. I would suggest everyone to take the time to look at it.
