Do we need religion in our lives or do we NOT need religion? If we needed religion in our lives, we would only pray and pray to Him, up in the sky.

There are a few possible interpretations your question:
a. "is religion an necessarily emerging pattern in humans? that is, is "the interrogation about a superior power at the origin of the things surrounding us" something that every human share?
–––> in this case, appears that religion indeed is something recurrent. For instance, imagine the first humans wondering about the lightning… they sure as hell imagined something superior to them as they were looking for an explanation.
b. is there a social need for religion? that is, would any human society require religion to properly function and develop?
–––> well let me just invite you to take a look at what we do to each other in this world, in a mish-mash of political and religious reasons, intertiwined in some more individual aspects of profit...
What's wrong with religion anyway? People can believe in their spritual beliefs you know. We do need religion! Religion has been a fundamental part of our civilisation for thousands if years. It is both true, in my opinion, and gives people hope for the future. What does atheism promise? Nothing but a meaningless life followed by death.
Religion is also the embodiment of free speech. In a society where we promote free speech and human rights, how can we take away the faith of others, regardless of our own feelings.
And finally, religion is a force for good. Without religion we would have no charity, no missionary work and no morals to base our lives upon. All that would be left would be a world corrupted by selfishness, hate and anarchy and every person who denies religion brings us a step closer to that dark world.
I do not believe religion is needed at all, the only reason for its part taking is due to the fact that people are often gullible which leads to misunderstandings. Life would most likely be different if religion did not exist I can't say for the better or worse well because we live in a religious society and we see death all to often whether on TV or your mobile device. Religion is used as a way to help people cope with the reality that we only live once.
Man was created with the desire to worship the Creator. It is only through Adam's rebellion that we are now in the position we are.
But all is not lost! Jehovah God sent his son to earth as a ransom so that mankind can be reconciled to God.
Time is fast approaching when Jehovah will bring an end to this wicked system of things.

IN EVERY country on the face of the earth, there is interest in religion. On the other hand, there are also many who say quite frankly that they have no interest in religion. But did they always feel that way?
The human makeup is such that a person is not really content with only material things. Humans need spirituality. Day-to-day existence that is built around obtaining merely physical necessities, with occasional periods of recreation, does not fully satisfy a person’s inmost needs. Unlike animals, humans want to know, ‘What is the purpose of life?’ ‘This brief life, which includes much that is beautiful but also much that is ugly, is this all there is?’ Have you not asked questions like these?
With insight into the human makeup, Jesus Christ stated: “Man cannot live on bread alone.” (Matthew 4:4, The New English Bible) He also said: “Happy are those conscious of their spiritual need.” (Matthew 5:3) Their happiness comes because they are keenly aware of their need, take proper steps to satisfy it, and experience God’s blessing. However, our spiritual need is not satisfied simply by joining a church or attending some religious services. Religion that is largely ritualistic may have emotional appeal, but does it provide realistic solutions to the problems of life? Even though a religion advocates certain basic precepts that are sound, if it fails to come to grips with the real purpose of life, will it satisfy your spiritual need? Of even greater concern, will practicing such a religion lead to a good relationship with God? Without that, true contentment will be lacking.

Mental-health experts tell us that people need spiritual values in order to be truly happy. We see this in the fact that people want to belong to something or serve someone or some cause greater than themselves. To satisfy this need, some devote their leisure time to nature, art, music, and so on. Yet, most find no deep or lasting fulfillment in such pursuits.
In fact, we were created with the desire to worship the Creator. However, not all religion is good, When you look at religion most people only see hypocrisy, interference in politics and wars. But the Bible tells us that genuine believers will not get involved in these areas of life.
Jesus himself said that he was "no part of the world" and his followers also would be no part of the world.
Therefore we need to examine religion and see which one is actually following the principles set out in the Bible.
The only reason we need religion is because it is in our DNA and in our brain to have something bigger than ourselves that takes care of things that apparently we can't control.
We don't need religion to have charities or to be good with a good heart. This does not make sense. I know atheists people bigger at heart and more willing to help others than any religious person that I have met.
People need "above" rules to follow because it makes things easier and more comforting for them. Anybody can take his life in their own hands and make his own moral rules. We don't need religion for that. Yes it's true that religion is making a lot of good in the world, but it is also the reason for a lot of hate between totally equally people.
Religion is good up to a point, but beyond that just get along with your life and do something truly good and great. Do something that you are certain it makes you fell good, and not because you think is good.
I think it depends on the person. Yes, some people need to follow a religion for various reasons, others do not or can not because they don't understand or cannot understand. I left my religion and while I'm still looking into others (Wiccanism mainly) I know others have left religion and been content without it usually becoming Atheists or Agnostics.
The first thing you need to do is find out how many religion their are because their are
A recent tabulation concluded that there are 10 main religions and some 10,000 sects. Of these, some 6,000 exist in Africa, 1,200 in the United States, and hundreds in other lands.
Many factors have contributed to the development of new religious groups. Some have said that the various religions all represent different ways of presenting religious truth. But a comparison of their teachings and practices with the Bible indicates, rather, that the diversity of religions is because people have become followers of men instead of listening to God. What we do need is our creator in our life. The reason we need him is he created all things and gave them to us as a gift. Therefore our life we owe to Jehovah God.
You need to ask yourself. Are all religions acceptable to God? Here is a good scripture to keep in mind Rom 10:2,3 “I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God; but not according to accurate knowledge; for, because of not knowing the righteousness of God but seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.”
Is it true that there is good in all religions? You may of thought this way.because there are some nice people out their. But ask yourself this. Most religions do teach that a person should not lie or steal, and so forth. But is that sufficient? Would you be happy to drink a glass of poisoned water because someone assured you that most of what you were getting was water? You may want to keep this in mind (2 Corinthians 11:14, 15) 14 And no wonder, for Satan himself keeps disguising himself as an angel of light. 15 It is therefore nothing extraordinary if his ministers also keep disguising themselves as ministers of righteousness. But their end will be according to their works.
What you should ask yourself is. Which one is the true religion? That is the question.
