Do the spine stretching exercises really make you taller a couple of inches?

Well I don't know if this works for everyone, but I personally have started yoga (It really consists of stretches and really stretches my spine and back out) and over the course of one month I grew half an inch. I did yoga/stretching for at least ten minutes a day.

Your height can vary a half inch every morning just because you sleep lying down. I have no information about such exercises, other than "the rack". You don't want that.
