Do I need to buy a present for a kid in playgroup? I just a new member and I don't know the kid and her mom. I don't know that to buy and how the mini party will be. I intend to bake a cake to bring to the playgroup. Is it ok? Because I just move to Australia, I don't know much about the playgroup and the culture here.

If it's a birthday party for the child and you have been invited then you should bring a gift for the child. Find out how old the child is and buy something age appropriate. It's not that difficult for a young child- a picture book, a wooden puzzle, a toy of any kind. Just go to the shop and have a look through the ailes. :-)
