Do I have to disclose any back problems to my future employers?

It is always difficult answering these types of questions without knowing the jurisdiction where the employee works. I am a Canadian employment lawyer. As a general rule, no. Nor, as a general rule, can the employer ask you during the recruitment phase whether you have a disability or medical condition. One possible exception to this general rule is where the disability or medical condition might impair your ability to perform the essential duties of the job you are being hired to do. In such a case, you might have a duty to disclose. Again, this general rule might be affected by local labour laws of the jurisdiction in which you work.
