From my understanding, I don't think I have asthma, the only thing that's ever activated my extreme shortness of breath is if I run my absolute fastest, either for longer than a minute, or just a few seconds if I'm carrying something heavy (such as a backpack).
I've never been good at breathing, but I've always loved running though. When I was younger, I would play soccer every summer, as well as run races. I was always the fastest runner in my gym classes, despite being shorter than my classmates.
A lot of people would look at me weird when I would be severely out of breath and still running my fastest. It was never strange to me, I was just used to always being short of breath after a minute of running.
The taste of blood in my mouth (never any red in my spit though), is always there after I run for any long period of time. Eventually after I got too old to play soccer (a few years ago, I'm 19 right now) I stopped running so often, and now I just jog every now and then. I don't taste the blood or get any other symptoms if I'm just jogging.
My other symptoms from when I run are:
-Taste of blood in my mouth
-Excessive saliva production, with a somewhat mucous-y texture
-Extreme shortness of breath, painful to both inhale and exhale
-Coughing (which lasts for a few hours even after I finally catch my breath (which can take 20-30 minutes)
Am I just running to hard? I always thought my lungs would get stronger if I practiced, but I've been like this my whole life.
