I'm very interested in having a smartboard in my house. I understand that they are expensive themselves. So, I found out that you can make one yourself.
However I don't suppose that is an easier way than using an Xbox, Nintendo Wii remote, Apple TV, Bluetooth adapter, SMART drivehead, and etc. ?
I am hoping for a step-by-step process as an answer, please and thank you.
Theoretically, with sufficient training and a camera of the surroundings transmitting to the computer you could have any pointer you want, from your finger to a norwegian blue parrot, I recall at least one such university project.
However, in terms of ease of implementation, structured is easier. If commercial smartboards are expensive, it's not because people are suckers for anything gaudy and beg to make a contribution (for the most part), it's because design, development and manufacture are difficult within the parameters of accessibility.
IMO, a layperson cannot partake in technological diy. They can try, and inevitably stumble into every pitfall possible; if they can climb out they will no longer be a novice. Step by step guides are readily available on google (with the methods you've mentioned). If you want someone to take you by the hand through the process, that's not gonna happen, because guidance is more tedious work than creation.
