It is not reliable to let people tell you what the bible says. Many people will make up stuff because they don't know what it says, and many will make up stuff because they wish it would not say what it says. You just have to read it for yourself. Read a chapter of Proverbs every day. Proverbs has 31 chapters so you can keep your place by just looking at a calendar. There is no religion or nothing in Proverbs and you don't have to believe anything. Just read to find wisdom. When you are comfortable with that, then read the bible from Romans to 2 Thessalonians over and over until you start to remember what it says. That is the part that applies to Christians. Here is a book to help you to understand the bible. It's a free download and you can get a hard copy at any bible book store.

As for your question, There is no definition for a "commited christian". The bible defines a Christian in Romans 10:9 & 10. Nothing there about "commited". And there is nothing to discuss except study methods. If the bible tells you something, there is no discussion. If the bible does not tell you something, you don't know it.
The first and foremost is:
To love Jehovah your God with your whole heart, soul and mind.
2. To love your neighbour as yourself
3. To preach the good news of Gods Kingdom
These are the main three responsibilities. Within the first two are the whole of the law.
To love Jehovah God with your whole heart, soul and mind would mean that nothing comes before his worship.
To love your neighbour as yourself means that you would do absolutely nothing to harm your fellowman. You would not go to war and kill, you would not steal from him. In fulfilling this responsibility would bring peace and unity.
To preach the good news of God's Kingdom, here again this is showing love of God and of your fellowman.
Other responsibilities of a Christian is that he would provide for his family, both in a spiritual sense and a physical sense.
Very good question. True Christians have many responsibilities, but I will mention a few on the top of the list;
1) The greatest responsibility of a Christian is at Matthew 22:37,"You must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind."
2) The second greatest is at Matthew 22: 39,"You must love your neighbor as yourself."
3) Matthew 28:19/20,"Go,therefore,and make disciples of people of all nations,baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you.
4) Hebrews 10:24/25,"And let us consider one another so as to incite to love and fine works, not forsaking our meeting together, as some have the custom, but encouraging one another, and all the more so as you see the day drawing near.
