Reasons why you might think that citizens must be willing to sacrifice their selfish desires for their nations common good?

Luke 4:5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
"That is delivered unto me," get it? Satan is the god of Earthly authority, and he has to somehow con people into giving him their support while pretending that he does not actually exist. That explains a lot of political imbecility, but of course you can't use it in a debate because everybody firmly believes that Satan does not exist and they will reject you as a religious nut. So you have to be careful to stick to verifiable facts. You can point out that is is a departure from sanity to assume that all individual desires are selfish. You can point out that anybody who relinquishes his individual desire is entitled to a just compensation for that sacrifice, and no central government has ever offered any such compensation. You can point out that there is never any definition for "the common good" other than the profits of big bankers. You can point out a lot of things, but you always have to remember that any time Satan is involved, the people you are talking to are bonkers: they are going to do what they are going to do no matter how stupid it is. When Satan puts an idea in someone's head, it always seems like the most brilliant idea in the world, even though a moment's reflection reveals that is incredibly stupid. Such as sacrificing "selfish" desires for "the greater good".
Adam Smith wrote several pieces about the greater good, but he did not mean the baloney you are up against. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invisible_hand
Satan deals in "shoulds" and command structures and central authority. God gives choices, and then advises which choice is best. Since I am trying to be a man of God, I don't tell people what they "should" do, I tell them what choices they have and what might affect their decision.
Hey! um just wondering, the point outs you gave me, are you agreeing and listing the reasons as to why citizens SHOULD be willing to sacrifice their selfish desires for their nations common good or are you listing why they SHOULDN'T?
Please get back to me aha and thanks for the long answer btw!! :) Just want to make sure if your affirmative or negative :)
