I'm a 15 year old girl and always start to freak out whenever a thunderstorm hits. I start getting jumpy and I hide in closets and squeal and just freak out in general. I'm home alone with my twin brother most of the time when this happens. What can he and I do to keep my mind off of the storm?

Try reading about thunderstorms. If you do that even a little, I think you'll realize that they're not really all that intimidating, which might help. :) But anyway, don't be afraid or embarrassed to cuddle up to a family member if you're scared and want to feel comforted. Or you could just lie back, relax and listen to some calming music to block out the sound of thunder. Additionally, you could just distract yourself by reading an interesting book, watching TV or a movie, playing cards/a board game, drawing, writing...anything you enjoy, really! Just remind yourself that there's basically no threat to you whatsoever. Seriously, there's a 1 in 3,000 chance that you'll get struck by lightning in your lifetime. If those aren't reassuring odds, I don't know what are!
Good luck besting your astraphobia! =)
Like I am a huge fan of thunderstorms and stuff and every time it happens i watched a whole entire thing. Now it is completely normal to be afraid of a thunderstorm but once you learn how it works I think you should be scared anymore.
