I am extremely interested in taking a dance class, but I have a few problems.
1. I ve been considered a hipster/trendy tomboyish kid for most of my pre teen years(I m 12 now) and I am afraid of people thinking, especially my mom, that it s a phase, which would cause her to possibly say no if I asked.
2. That segways into this problem. I have slim to none self confidence and because of that, I m terrified of asking my mom.
I have two friends who competitively dance and I am very interested in what they do. They ve taught me the ballet postions and how to pirouette. I love watching shows like "Dance Academy", and the specific dance exclusive parts of "Fame High". I need advice, and quickly. I ve only had serious interest for the last day or two, and I don t want to ask and be heartbroken. I m terribly afraid of her answer, but I ve read too much and studied too much and looked at too much to back out now without being disappointed. I need any possible advice ASAP, please thank you.

Hello. First of all you have to be 100% sure that you want to dance, and that you'll be able to manage time between dancing and school.
Second of all about your 1st point, that shouldn't bother you at all. And about your mom, try to give her little hints, then maybe try to put a small dance with the help of your friends and show that to her. Or just wait till she is in a good mood and just ask her.
