my fiance said he found me on one of these sites and i had been arested or whatever for controlled substance, disorderly conduct, shoplifting, and something else. he said it had the right city, town, middle, last and first name, as well as accurate age. however, i know nothing about most of this. I cant find the info anywhere. I was arrested only one time for shoplifting and it should be off my record. but even that just said theft not shoplifting. the other stuff im not even sure what it means . but i know it cant be me. so what i wanna know is if i should be concerned. my attorny checked my record just a couple months ago and it just had the one incident on there. the other things are non existant to my knowledge and i think i would know if i have been arrested for those things, within the past couple months then i wouldnt be sitting at home on a computer. could it be i.d theft?

i don't think it's I.D. theft. if someone else was arrested under your name they'd usually be able to catch the problem after running the suspects finger prints (i would think.) the only reliable background check site i know is "intelius.com" but you need to pay a fee for information on that person. i would keep an eye on your credit scores and credit card bills and keep your attorney informed about it. and ask him these questions of course. I.D. theft is one of the most difficult things to fight and difficult to detect.
my grandma's I.D. was stolen a couple years ago but we never got a court date for that even though we know who did it. and my I.D. card was stolen from my now ex-friend and i couldn't prove that either.
The real site is from the Sherrif's dept, but numerous other sites exist and put in info someone gives them without checking to see if correct. I have had one try to ruin my character in Dallas,an offender 11 yrs younger is not only using my ID but opening credit cards & sending utility bills to my address for payment to an address in a low class area I do not know location.cops take report & do not do anything to arrest the scumbags. So: it is possible someone is putting fraudulant info about you on one of those sites. they want money, the real site from the law is free.find the bad one and sue for damages and removal.
Making sure your record is clean can be tricky.... consult an attorney if you want to have the real arrest removed from your record by expungement/record sealing.
Be careful though... When the court grants your expungement/sealing, they will ONLY report the information to a select number of agencies (just government). Large background check companies that hold digital information are never notified that your record has been altered. These background check companies obtain a record of arrest or conviction when it happens, but never follow up for changes. This is what you need to worry about when it comes to getting jobs in the future, or passing a check for an apartment or credit line.
There are Companies out there that notify these thousands of background check places & have them remove the record. Unless you want to take the time to do that yourself and know the right places to call, this may be the route for you.
As for the false information, try to find out in which court the charges exist, and take it up with them (or hire an attorney to do so).
