Years ago companies would use a person from an entirely different field to give feedback on their products or environment. It was a way for companies to look at things objectively from a different perspective. What was the name of that specific roll? Someone called me this years ago and I am stumped for what the term is.. The person for thinking outside the box was an unofficial official roll before the term became main stream.

They still do that now and pay big bucks to get it done. They are called focus groups. I've been in a few. We sat in a conference room. There were microphones hanging from the ceiling along the length of the table so everything we said was recorded, there was a mirrored wall and on the otherside watching and listening and filming us were the people paying to get our opinions and perspectives.

Second of all: If you took the time to pull your cranium out of your more intelligent half you'd have noticed that I did put my question in a more formal presentation. As a new member we are restricted in cHAracTERs. Once we formally create the account they remove that restriction. Which takes place after you enter the initial question.
And first and fore most;
Anyone that volunteers for an additional ROLE for extra credit should consider being more positive and helpful. Unfortunately, some are better equipped to hide behind a computer and bully then going out and finding more socially respectable ways of engaging in conversation. In this case the Role reversal was a waist of time like any Role reversal "JV" rarely finds himself in...
Ok, so consider the plight of the answerer: We have no idea what your situation is. We have only the question to go on. If the question is goofy, it gets a goofy answer.
This was a great response. However, i'm looking for the title given to the individual that worked for the company not the group contracted by the company. I know it's a tough one, I don't usually find myself turning to questions for answers.
