I don't know what to do. I've been constipated for 2 months and everytime I feel like going I go and i have to strain REALLY REALLY hard. I tried drinking more and more liquids each day but that didn't help. I've started to hold the poop in. It doesn't help that there's a painful sensation after I'm done pooping. What should I do? I went to the doctor and all they said was to drink more liquids and eat less.

Fiber is what prevents that. Wheat bran is the best fiber. You only need two slices of whole grain bread per day to keep the pipes clean. Veggies with every meal will do the job too. You might also have a magnesium deficiency, although that is more often signaled by cramps. Epsom salts will send lots of water to the colon and get it moving. Put a dose in a glass with water to cover and stir until it dissolves. Then fill the glass with lemonade and drink it. You can take it without the lemonade but you won't like the taste. If you take epsom salts on an empty stomach you can have results in as little as ten minutes. If there is food in your belly it will take some random time up to 24 hours or so, but when it hits, you better be near a toilet.
