My bf & his ex have been separated for 2 years-no final divorce has been established. She still sends him love txts & wants to get back with him yet she has a boyfriend. My bf thinks I'm being immature by not wanting him to attend a joint bday party for their son. He didn't tell me about this party until the night before I announced to him that my plans were to spend the following day alone with him. Not only did he go, but he didn't invite me and after the fact he said I should have come. I don't feel comfortable around her after the txts she sends him and I don't think a joint party is reasonable for a child when there is drama and tension all around. Am I in the wrong?

It's a delicate situation. I do believe the party should have been held and that both parents should have been there. While the situation is tense, as you say, it's up to the adults to be on their best behaviour for at least one day (kid's birthdays, Christmas, etc.)
However, where he's badly misjudged the situation was going on his own. There may be reasons (i.e. he was trying to prevent a scene, etc.) but he's done the wrong thing there. While you have doubts, he should be allaying these doubts and all he's done is make things worse.
Apart from anything else, both you and his son are a big part of his life and you should have been there for that reason too.
