Hi all, so over the past couple of weeks I've had a really bad chest. It started about a month or so ago when I thought I had a basic cold or flu, felt really rough and just wanted to sleep. I had a cough, sore throat, headache, high temperature, muscle pain.
After the initial cold symptoms went away I was left with a really annoying cough than would not budge. I tried all the cough meds I could find, tried every home remedy but nothing worked. My chest was tight and painful when I was breathing, I was getting out of breath and having a coughing fit even with as little movement as walking. I saw a doctor who told me that I had a cold, chest infection and throat infection. I was given antibiotics to clear the infection, which I took the whole course of, as instructed.
At the end of the course of antibiotics I was feeling much better but then one day took a turn for the worst and my temperature was at around 40⁰C and I was still shivering, my body ached and I was unable to move for a few hours until my body regulated the temperature. This happened on a few occasions but i just battled through.
Now, a week on from that, my temperature is fine and I'm feeling much better however the cough is still lingering about and my chest is rattling. When I breath I can hear the loud, deep rumble coming from my chest. Loud enough for my partner to hear too. When I'm coughing I feel like there is lots of phlegm and mucus in my chest but I can't get any of it to come up and I'm worried that it's going to make me more ill if I can't get it up.
Has anybody ever had symptoms similar to this? Becoming such a burden, constantly coughing! Thanks
