1) Will a precipitate for when 23 mL of 0.020M Na2CO3 is added to 12 mL of 0.010 M MgCl2? Show work
2) What mass of sodium sulfate is required to start precipitation in 500. mL of 0.0300M calcium chloride? (Assume volume is constant)

When you put salts in water they dissociate and the ions knock around, banging into each other. Na bangs into Mg but that is not a molecule so they continue banging around. Na bangs into Cl but that is soluble so they continue banging around. Mg bangs into CO3 and that is not soluble so it falls out of the water. That is called "precipitate".
