Hi, i just got accepted in chemical engineering but im so confused about studying chemical and its career future ! I have opportunity to downgrade to (Computer science) i love computer stuff im into it. l feel there is more jobs for it . on the other hand people say that chemical engineering is so good ans well paid jobs are available , But in my region i dont think there are a lot of jobs for chemical engineers ! the only industry in my country is Oil. (Im in iraq)
What is your opinion ?!
Oil is perfect for a chemical engineer. Also there are many subsets of chemical engineering. My suggestion is, if your university has general education classes take them your first year, they will give you a better idea of what you like. Many universities also offer programs which help you to decide what you would enjoy for the rest of your life, if they have that, definitely take advantage of it. It can save you a lot of grief.
If are prepared to go abroad then swtich to computer engineering cause you may not get good exposure in this field in your country. I think in your country chemical engineering is best. Nothing is difficult . Study on time you will get good results. Ps i have passed my engineering on studying last day of exam :P
