I have to write a persuasive essay for my English teacher. She said that we can take it home for homework, but I'm not sure when it's due. The rubric says: Idealistic people are those who pursue great ideas in the hope of changing the world. Because their plans are often quite ambitious, these people can have difficulty accomplishing smaller, concrete goals. In contrast, practical people concentrate on workable ideas and goals. Their approach is likely to lend itself to tangible solutions, even if these people fail to envision grand ideas.
Which approach is more valuable in life: an idealistic one or a practical one?
Write an essay stating your opinion on whether it's better to dream big or to be realistic.

My opinion is: It's better to dream big than to be realistic.

This is what I have in the essay part that I wrote, but it's not enough and I should probably add lots of stuff. It sounds like something a sixth grader would write.

The way I see it, it's better to dream big than to be realistic. Sure, there are times when you *have* to be realistic, but being a dreamer can have more of a positive effect on reality while being too realistic could easily crush another person's dreams. For example, I dream of starting a band someday, but, realistically, I can't sing well and I definitely can't play any instruments, (unless the triangle counts). So, there goes reality, crushing my dreams. Of course, now that I've discovered ty his fact, I'm upset, showing just how negative an effect reality sometimes has.
