Can strong winds cause septic smell in bathroom?

Every drain in your house has a U shaped trap. It holds water and that prevents sewer gases from blowing into the house. There is also a vent someplace, just an open pipe to the air. If the water in the trap is not deep enough, wind can cause a vacuum in the vent and bounce the water, letting gas escape into your house. You should be aware of every drain on your property and either plug it with a stopper or be sure it gets some water occasionally.
